5 Unpopular Things to do at your Wedding from a Wedding Venue Owner

Owning a wedding venue and working events, fundraisers, and receptions nearly every weekend for the past 9 years, we've seen our fair share of creative ways to celebrate your wedding day!
1. Have your DJ play the "Grand March" at the beginning of your reception to kick off the night! This traditional Catholic dance gets everyone in the room involved! If you've never been a part of a Grand March dance, trust me, it should be at the TOP of your playlist for your dance. 2. Have a surprise performance or flash mob during the reception. This tops the {wedding} cake for me! We have had so many different renditions of this happen at Cornerstone Ranch during wedding receptions. One of my absolute favorites was the dancing robots who came and kept the party going late into the night. They used every inch of our dance floor and engaged with the wedding party to celebrate at the venue.
3. Create a signature cocktail or non-alcoholic drink representing you as a couple. Our bartenders have so much fun doing this! Cutesy names for the drinks are a must! Think "Blushing Bride Bellini", "Marry Me Martini", "Mint to be Mojito" etc. I mean, I'm not opposed to you naming one after the venue either! How about a "Cornerstone Ranch on the Rocks" or " Cornerstone Ranch Water." Just a thought to show the event venue some love!
4. Have a food truck, food station, or mobile bar instead of a traditional sit-down dinner and bar. We absolutely love this idea! It gets away from traditional wedding and event catering and gives your guests options! Imagine 4 or 5 local Amarillo & Canyon food trucks parked outside on our front patio. Our local girls at Sips and Giggles Mobile Bar have the most adorable trailer they bring out and serve drinks from! Guests get to enjoy the West Texas sunsets while ordering their food & drinks!
Another way you go non-traditional dinner is to use our large reception area to spread out food stations throughout the wedding venue. One station could house a baked potato bar, one for the charcuterie-loving folks, a nacho bar, a pizza hub, and build your own sub station! Cornerstone Ranch Events venue is one of the largest in the area, so you would have plenty of room to set up multiple food stations like this for your wedding reception or fundraising event.
5. Have an interactive guest book like a photo booth or Polaroid camera station. This is such a unique idea and gives you something to look back on for years to come! Many brides rent our in-house photo booth! Guests can leave a picture of themselves having a great time at the reception with a good wishes note to the couple!
Rather than the traditional "guestbook", have your guests sign something you can hang in your home! Cornerstone Ranch has several options for "sign-in boards" for you to order directly from us! We can customize it with any name, brand, or letter!
Just remember, the most important thing to do on your wedding day is relax and enjoy it! Don't worry about the tiny things that may or may not be right. It's your wedding day!
